Bareos Client setup

Installation on the client machine

Centos

In /etc/yum.repos.d/bareos.repo, configure the repo to your desired version :

[bareos_bareos-17.2]
name=bareos bareos-17.2 (CentOS_7)
type=rpm-md
baseurl=http://download.bareos.org/bareos/release/17.2/CentOS_7/
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://download.bareos.org/bareos/release/17.2/CentOS_7/repodata/repomd.xml.key
enabled=1

Then install bareos file daemon :

yum install bareos-filedaemon

Debian

Enter the following, customize the debian and bareos version numbers as needed :

echo 'deb http://download.bareos.org/bareos/release/17.2/Debian_9.0 /' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/bareos.list
apt-get install -y gnupg
curl http://download.bareos.org/bareos/release/17.2/Debian_9.0/Release.key| apt-key add -
apt-get update -qq
apt-get install -y bareos-filedaemon && systemctl stop bareos-fd

Configuration on the client machine

There are two files to edit :

sed -i /etc/bareos/bareos-fd.d/client/myself.conf -e "/Name =/s/=.*/= ${HOSTNAME}/"
sed -i /etc/bareos/bareos-fd.d/client/myself.conf -e "/# Plugin Directory/s/# //"
sed -i /etc/bareos/bareos-fd.d/director/bareos-dir.conf -e "/Name =/s/=.*/= bareos-dir/"
systemctl enable bareos-fd &>/dev/null
systemctl start bareos-fd

Retrieve the client password that you will need in the next section :

awk '/Password =/ {print $3;}' /etc/bareos/bareos-fd.d/director/bareos-dir.conf
